Bounce Curl cleansers came out in late 2017 with mixed reviews. If you were wondering which shampoo to buy? Is Bounce Curl worth the hype? Then I hope you find my honest review useful.

Disclaimer: All these products were gifted to me in 2018 and I’ve had plenty of time to use them in different combinations. All opinions are my own, use your discretion as always.

Bounce Curl cleansers have 80 percent plant-based ingredients, you can say it’s herbal. Now because it’s plant-based it’s important to test it before you apply. All are SLS-FREE! It’s also important to give these shampoos a few washes before it can completely remove product buildup from your previous wash products. The best tip, regardless of which Bounce Curl Shampoo Conditioner you choose is that less is more with this line. You don’t have to pile on to make it work, no. Don’t waste this goodness because all of their cleansers are vitamin-enriched with hair-growth properties! All of these products smell pleasant, not overpowering but subtle enough to please. While my hair appreciated and thrived with this at first, my postpartum hair did not appreciate it at all.

Enzyme Gentle Clarifying Shampoo Review

This is the strongest shampoo of the whole collection. It claims to clarify your hair and scalp from sweat, oil/product buildup. The “enzymes” exfoliate and revitalize the scalp. I agree! It does all this without drying your hair too. It leaves my hair feeling light and gives me volume. This Bounce Curl Enzyme shampoo lathers a lot. Best recommended for Fine, low density hair, smooth wavy hair. For those who prefer to use one brand only.

  • Clarifying Shampoo.
  • Low protien. (Hydrolyzed Adansonia Digitata (Baobab) Seed Protein)
  • Contains Biotin (among other botanical super ingredients for those looking for hair growth)
  • Has coconut oil.
  • Aloe-free!

Pro tips:

  • Start with little shampoo on socking wet hair
  • For more suds-action add more water.
  • Since this clarifying shampoo isn’t harsh like the others, it’s safe to use it Weekly.
  • Deep condition or style to restore moisture if your hair feels dry after this.
  • To avoid reactions with other products, use this shampoo with other Bounce Curl products
  • If your scalp starts flaking or itching after using this, scalp massage with oils to moisturise your scalp.
  • Stop using if you experience allergic reactions like itching or burning.

Bounce Curl Moisturizing Shampoo Review

This cleans hair and scalp while adding more moisture to your hair. Its creamy in texture and lathers for fine hair. It never lathered my coarse hair so my hypotheses is that it could be from the high-protein content in this shampoo. On good days it was easy to detangle, my hair felt nourished and conditioned in the shower, however it felt rough after using this. Best recommended for Dry and damaged hair that appreciates high-protein products.

  • Moisturising Shampoo.
  • High protien. (Hydrolyzed Adansonia Digitata (Baobab) Seed Protein, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein & Quinoa)
  • Contains more oils and botanical ingredients that may weigh down very fine to low density hair
  • Has coconut oil.
  • Be mindful and avoid using this on protein-sensitive or protein-overloaded hair.

Pro Tip from @hif3licia: “I use a dime size amount, lather to remove excess oils, add water then add another dime size and it lathers!

Hydra-Drench Cleansing Conditioner Review

This “cowash” cleanses hair and scalp without drying. This conditioner has super creamy consistency and doesn’t lather. It has dual-action properties, you can cowash and condition with only one product. Ideal to use on lazy washdays or quickie washdays and those who wash hair frequently.

  • Moisturising Cowash.

Pro tips:

  • Leaving this conditioner in your hair can cause buildup and itching so make you rinse it all out.
  • If you wash your hair daily, instead of shampoo alternate with this cowash.
  • Fine hair or wavy hair can use it as a normal conditioner after shampoo for best results.

Best recommended for All hair types.

Bounce Curl Super Smooth Cream Conditioner Review

This conditioner is rich and potent. You can leave it on for 20 minutes with heat and it works cleverly as a deep conditioner. It also works as a regular conditioner. I have left some in my coarse hair before and it did not buildup. You can use it every wash! This conditioner is protein-free so it balances their shampoo very well. My postpartum coarse hair did not appreciate this conditioner, could be from the coconut content. Best recommended for All hair types and only if you use the whole line together.

Pro Tip: It may not have the desired “slip” at first. So after you apply on your hair, give the Bounce Curl Conditioner a minute to soak and saturate before you start working with it.

Conclusion

Your hair needs change daily depending on the weather, your diet, and your lifestyle. Basically, the way to use Bounce Curl Shampoos and Conditioners is to be smart about it. For example, if you have never deep cleaned your hair, then it’s time you used the clarifying shampoo. Say, your fine hair needs EXTRA moisture but you don’t like cowashing, so you pick up the moisture shampoo. Maybe it’s the heat of summer and cowashing is the only way to pump up the moisture levels in your color-dmanged hair, so you use the Cleansing Conditioner. You get?

  1. Did you stop using the Gentle Clarifying shampoo when you started avoiding coconut oil? My hair is also coconut oil sensitive, but it sounds like the ideal shampoo for me otherwise! (I need a lightly foaming/gently clarifying weekly wash.)
