A confession, an apology, and a warning. My Garnier Fructis Style Pure Clean Styling Gel Review sums it up well.

How to Use Garnier Pure Clean Gel

You can use this gel on freshly cleansed hair or even on refresh days! This gel requires layers of product under it to give you a super strong hold. SO make sure you use a great leave-in conditioner and curl cream before you apply Garnier Pure Clean Gel.

A quick video of how I refreshed with Garnier Pure Clean Gel

The Confession

If you look at all the products I use and review and after reading my credit card debt horror story, you probably think I’m a big spender! Well, that is not true.

Honestly, I don’t like to compromise and so I prefer spending money on the best products. However, three-fourths of my 2017 product stash is sent from my followers, my friends, and brands that appreciate all my unsponsored efforts to promote them!

Luck doesn’t cut it. Readers who appreciate my work and guidance send me things they love, to review and this Garnier Pure Clean Gel is one of those.

The Apology

I admit my views towards the curly girl method are stronger than any other Indian beauty blogger.  To promote natural hair care I may have crossed boundaries and pissed many people off.

I apologize that my views have rankled some who felt guilty for using non-CG products,  because of my posts. I am such a CG-Nazi, and I’m sorry I’ve been so.

Cutting to the chase, Garnier Fructis Style Pure Clean Styling Gel is not CG and with the risk of being called a hypocrite, I love this gel and recommend it too. Just look at the hard hold it gave me in this video!

My Garnier Fructis Style Pure Clean Styling Gel Review

98% Naturally-Derived. No Silicones. No Parabens or Dyes.

The only ingredients that label this gel as non-CG are the waxes, which cause buildup and is hard to remove just with cowashing. So the main reason this isn’t CG is that you need a superb sulfate shampoo to remove this gel out of your hair.

Sulfate shampoo is a no-no for curly hair because constant shampooing dries out your hair, right? However, when if you snoop around and looked at these “banned” ingredients, you will be pleasantly surprised to see how they have awesome hair and skin benefits!

Ingredients

Aqua/water/eau, Propanediol, Isopropyl Palmitate, Cera Alba/Beeswax/Cire D’abeille, Cetyl Esters, Stearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Cetyl Alcohol, Arachidyl Alcohol, Behenyl Alcohol, Caprylyl Glycol, Arachidyl Glucoside, Gellan Gum, Parfum/Fragrance, Potassium Sorbate, Tocopherol, Glycine Soja Oil/Soybean Oil, Limonene, Xanthan Gum, Citronellol, Linalool, Acacia Senegal/Acacia Senegal Gum, Citral. F.i.l. D44846/5.

  • CERA ALBA –  Another name for beeswax, this waxy substance comes from beehives and is naturally secreted by honeybees in the form of scales. Naturelle Cosmetics say it has rejuvenating skin properties.

  • BEESWAX – Provides moisture and even stimulates hair growth! This ingredient is used in balms, More Nature says it has a good course of vitamin A and it makes the styling products easy to use too, because of the slip I’m sure.

  • CIRE D’ABEILLE – Another name for beeswax and Frances Organics Beauty Secrets say Raw beeswax is a natural product which has numerous health and skincare benefits.

This was the same story with Rawkyn Clay Mask when CG-Nazis said how it wasn’t CG because of the Witch Hazel ingredient but Witch Hazel has amazing skin benefits!! I use a pure witch hazel toner for my face to clear my acne issues and it works!

So, CG-Nazis against this Garnier Pure and Clean gel can go jump somewhere.

    • Purpose: Strong Hold

    • Texture: Gel

    • Fragrance: Smells like air freshener

    • Recommended for: All Hair Types

    • CG-Safe? No (boo, but use occasionally!)

    • How long will it last? The 6.8FL OZ or 200 ml tube tub can last up to 3 months with regular use, or more, with less frequent use.

    • How much did I buy it for? I got it free since my friend sent it from the US.

    • Does it give a cast? Yes! A crazy cast if you use too much. Just “SOTC”scrunch with an oil or a curl cream to break the cast for softer curls.

    • Would I buy it and use it: YES!!

    • Bonus: It’s totally affordable only INR 650/-

The Warning

I understand Now why people compromise and use non-CG things. It’s because some ingredients just work! The curly girl method has been taken too far these days. However, there are many many girls and boys who use non-CG stuff with caution.

Garnier Pure Clean Gel is one of those products to be used with caution.

I suggest using this gel occasionally, maybe a few times a month because as CG, you want to clarify your hair once or twice a month anyway right? Remember the Bentonite Clay Mask? Yes, that’s the shampoo mask for this same function – to remove product buildup and clarify your hair. So if you’re doing that anyway, I see no harm in using this Garnier Pure Clean Gel if you had to. Just don’t shampoo too often, that’s all.

  1. Great article. I think with the right moisture I would have the closest to your hair. I keep working at it. Thanks for the info.
