Today, I’m super excited to share with you a super easy DIY curly hair routine featuring a surprising ingredient: beetroot water.
Why Beetroot Water?
Beetroot water is packed with vitamins and minerals that promote hair growth, strengthen strands, and enhance shine. As someone who loves natural hair care solutions, beetroot water has quickly become a staple in my curly hair routine.
Creating Beetroot Water
Let’s dive right into making this magic potion.
Ingredients:
- Fresh beetroots
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- Water
Instructions:
- Slice the Beetroots: Grab some fresh beetroots and slice them up.
- Boil: Pop the beetroot slices into a pot of water and add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar.
- Simmer: Bring it to a boil, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.
- Strain: Once it’s done simmering, strain out the beetroot chunks.
Voila! You’ve got yourself some nutrient-rich beetroot water ready to work wonders on your curls. Plus, the acidity from the apple cider vinegar helps to balance your scalp’s pH, keeping it healthy and happy.
Incorporating Beetroot Water into Your Routine
Step 1: The Bowl Method
Using the bowl method, dunk your hair into the bowl of beetroot water, making sure to saturate every strand from root to tip.
Step 2: Rinse
You can choose to shampoo beforehand if you like, but I prefer to go all-natural. On my product-free wash day, I start by rinsing my hair with water to remove any build-up.
Step 3: Condition
Then, I condition my curls using my favorite deep conditioning mask. I’m currently loving the Boucleme Intensive Mask, which I apply using the raking method. This helps to lock in moisture and define my curls. If you hair is very dry, then consider using a moisturizing mask for 10-20 minutes.
Step 4: Style
Next up, it’s time to style! After this DIY, I like to apply a combination curl creams to my damp hair, ensuring even distribution from roots to ends. Watch my video to see how I style my long curly hair. You can style as usual.
Results
My hair is coarse and it can feel rough easily. My results are soft, shiny, and defined natural curls, courtesy of beetroot water and a little TLC. And no, there was no color change in my grey hair. In fact this DIY made my grey curls shine and glimmer even more! So, next wash day, why not give this DIY curly hair routine a try? Your curls may thank you for it. Let me know if you try.
