Since I only use and recommend safe products, here’s what you need to know about Giovanni’s most underrated shampoo conditioner? Ok let’s get it on!
Giovanni Smooth As Silk Shampoo
This is a protein-free, gentle clarifying shampoo – which means unlike other strong shampoos in the market, this shampoo is moisturizing also. It will not strip everything out of your scalp and hair. The Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate ingredients are strong cleansing agents that could potentially be drying, but are not as harsh as SLS. If your hair feels dry after then follow with Giovanni’s protein-free conditioner to balance moisture.
Giovanni Smooth As Silk Conditioner
This moisturising conditioner will not dull, strip, or damage your hair. As the name suggests, it deeply moisturizes Damaged Hair. If you hair is healthy already you likely won’t see big difference. It detangles really well, as you can see here in the video below. I found this conditioner makes my hair very shiny – must be the aloe vera and the Hydrolyzed Soy Protein! This conditioner has mild protein (assuming from experience and also the protein ingredient is listed towards the end, as the 9th ingredient.) This conditioner is coconut-oil free!
The brand suggests, these products for deeply moisturizing dry or over-processed hair. That makes sense to me because of the presence of protein. These proteins you can either avoid or look for, depending on your hair type. Although hair is made of protein already, those with fine hair or damaged hair may need more protein for strength. Moreover, did you know? Protein is a humectant. Some proteins are good for the hair diet, especially damaged hair. However, normal hair or protein sensitive hair could begin to feel stiff, frizzy, and dry, indicating your hair is getting too much protein.
When to get it
Perfect for lazy days when you don’t feel like prepoo or deep conditioning your hair. If you’re on a budget and prefer a lathering shampoo then this Giovanni Deep Moisture shampoo is the one for you. Shampooing multiple times in the week dry out my coarse hair. You could use the shampoo once a week alternating with a trusty cowash for best results
When to avoid it
This formulation with apple and aloe extracts provide antioxidant protection. However, if you are sensitive to aloe vera, and/or have low porosity hair, then this is not the best choice for you. Try Giovanni’s protein-free duo instead. If you got this shampoo and conditioner after watching my video or recommendations but felt your hair is rough after? It is probably the protein or aloe or coconut that is not meant for your hair.
Use products based on your hair needs. If your hair doesn’t need protein, then use protein-free products or balance with protein products to see if that works out better.
